She has recently come under fire after an old advertising campaign she starred in for a skin-lightening product by Lancome resurfaced last week.
And Emma Watson appeared to be taking the furore in her stride as she was pictured arriving into New York City on Sunday evening.
The Harry Potter star was dressed for comfort as she made her way through the airport in a casual, layered ensemble.
Wrapping up with a patterned cape and a large pink scarf, the female rights activist completed her look with skinny jeans and black trainers.
Her short locks were styled away from her face, which appeared to have minimal make-up upon it.
Holding onto her large black handbag, the 25-year-old actress appeared to be in a hurry to get to her next location.

In recent years, Emma has been working tirelessly to use her fame to promote gender equality.
And the actress is so pᴀssionate about the cause that she has decided to take a year-long hiatus from the acting world in order to focus on studying and improving her knowledge on feminism.
Speaking to feminist icon bell hooks for Paper magazine, Emma confessed she was taking time off in order to work on her ‘personal development’.
She explained: ‘I’m taking a year away from acting to focus on two things, really. My own personal development is one.
‘My own personal task is to read a book a week, and also to read a book a month as part of my book club. I’m doing a huge amount of reading and study just on my own.’
She continued: ‘I almost thought about going and doing a year of gender studies, then I realised that I was learning so much by being on the ground and just speaking with people and doing my reading.’
Speaking about the effect her reading had on her outlook and perspective she explained: ‘It feels as if sometimes I’m struggling to keep up with myself. It’s a really cool period of time for me.
‘My work that I do for the UN is all very clearly outlined, but my personal views and opinions are still being defined, really. So it’ll be an interesting time.
The Bling Ring actress is an UN Goodwill Ambᴀssador, and in September she helped launch he highly publicized HeForShe campaign, where she delivered a speech calling for men to play a greater role in ending gender inequality.
Speaking at the United Nations headquarters, she revealed the Sєxism she has experienced throughout her life, saying it started at the age of eight when she was branded ‘bossy’ for wanting to direct school plays.
She continued: ‘At 15 my girlfriends started dropping out of their sports teams because they didn’t want to appear ‘muscly’…at 18 my male friends were unable to express their feelings.’
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower actress is the latest celebrity to take on a role with the UN, following stars such as George Clooney and Angelina Jolie.
